Practical Comfort
Comfort is the foundation. When bodies are larger, small physical supports and clear communication usually improve the experience more than any new position.
Core ideas
- Props first — A firm wedge or solid pillows under the hips or chest change angles and reduce strain dramatically.
- Leverage over force — Use the bed edge, furniture, or body positioning so gravity and structure do the work.
- Pace and check-ins — Larger bodies can tire or overheat faster. Slow starts and verbal check-ins prevent problems.
- Breathing room — Avoid positions that fully compress the chest or diaphragm for long periods.
